BOTOX & Dysport® in Braselton, Snellville & Loganville
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are prescription drugs called neurotoxins, that, when injected, temporarily paralyzes muscles. They are used to treat permanent furrows and deep wrinkles in the skin that are formed by the continual contraction of facial muscles.
Gwinnett Dermatology offers Botox Injections in Braselton, Snellville & Loganville, GA to treat wrinkles, frown lines, worry lines, and crows feet, smile lines, lines around the mouth, downturned corners of the mouth, chin wrinkles, necklines, “marionette’s” lines running down from the corners of the mouth, and excessively sweaty armpits, palms, and feet.
How does Botox® work?
Botox® Cosmetic is a natural purified protein that is administered in very low doses which are confined to the injected region. A few drops of the protein are injected into the muscle that creates a wrinkle. This relaxes the muscle by blocking its nerve impulse. As a result, the skin overlying the muscle relaxes and the wrinkles in the skin gradually soften and, in some cases, disappear.
Although the results are often dramatic, it will not radically change your facial appearance. The muscles are simply relaxed, so you can still frown, smile, or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases.
What is recovery like?
The procedure takes only a few minutes and provides only minimal discomfort with minor, temporary side effects. Most patients go right back to work or continue their activities immediately after the procedure.
It is unlikely that you’ll develop any significant side effects, but you may notice slight bruising at the injection sites. This is only temporary and can be covered by makeup. The most common side effects are headaches, slight swelling around injection sites (usually lasts 30 minutes to 1 hour) and temporary eyelid droop (can usually be reversed, if desired).
“Excellent service. Did not have to wait long at all to get in. I’ve been coming here for 20+ years; doctors and other staff members have always been stellar.”
When will I see results?
You should begin to see significant improvement within 5 to 7 days. The benefits usually last between 2 to 4 months. Most patients achieve their desired results after just one injection, although additional treatment sessions may be required in the future. In order to maintain and maximize your benefits, it is recommended to retreat every three months.
What is Dysport®?
Dysport® is an injectable facial treatment offered by Gwinnett Dermatology for patients dealing with wrinkles around the eyes, brows, mouth, and cheeks. This treatment is made with diluted doses of refined Botulinum toxin A, which temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for wrinkles.
When injected properly by a trained provider, Dysport® can dramatically reduce the appearance of wrinkles without affecting your ability to make facial expressions. The untreated facial muscles still work normally, allowing you to freely show facial expressions, such as smiling, in untreated areas.
Dysport® is often used on patients who have developed an immunity or no response to Botox® Cosmetic.
The providers at Gwinnett Dermatology are highly trained to administer these injections correctly, to achieve a pleasing and natural look result. It is an easy, affordable, and highly effective way to correct the signs of aging.
What is a Dysport® Treatment Like?
Dysport is injected using a tiny needle, and if you like, a topical anesthetic can be applied to decrease your discomfort. Including the time required for the topical anesthetic to take effect, your appointment for Dysport injections should last no more than an hour.
How Long Do Dysport® Results Last?
Like Botox®, Dysport injections last approximately four months. The effects take a few days to become visible.
